This Privacy Policy describes how TEC Law, Inc. d/b/a Abe Legal (“Abe Legal,” “we,” or “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use any Abe Legal websites, mobile or desktop applications, AI tools, payment services, or other products and features we own or operate (collectively, the “Site and Services”).

1. Geographic & Age Limits
1.1 United States–Only Service
Our Site and Services are intended solely for users located in the United States or its territories. We do not target or knowingly collect data from residents of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with heightened data-protection laws. Traffic we identify as EU-origin may be blocked or purged.

1.2 Minimum Age 18
You must be 18 years or older to use the Site and Services. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have such data, we delete it.

2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of personal information:
  • Identifiers – for example: name, postal address, email, phone number, unique account ID, and IP address.
  • Professional / Licensing Data – bar numbers, jurisdictions, malpractice coverage (for attorneys).
  • Payment & Financial Data – payment-token information, last four digits of cards, Stripe payout details.
  • Inquiry & Profile Details – legal service needs, practice areas, languages, demographic traits you choose to share.
  • Device & Usage Data – browser type, operating system, pages viewed, clicks, mobile device ID, and log-file information.
  • Communications – content of messages or documents exchanged via Abe Legal portals.
  • Survey or Feedback Data – voluntary reviews, ratings, and questionnaire responses.
3. How We Use Information
  • To deliver and operate the Site and Services, including matching Clients with Counsel and scheduling consultations.
  • To power our AI-driven intake and matching algorithms and improve overall service quality.
  • To process payments and attorney payouts through Stripe.
  • To secure the platform, detect fraud, and protect all users.
  • To conduct analytics, develop new features, and train non-public AI models on aggregated, de-identified data.
  • To send transactional notices and, if you opt-in, marketing or newsletter communications (you can opt out anytime).
4. Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure traffic. Most browsers let you delete or block cookies; doing so may affect site performance. We respect browser “Do Not Track” signals by limiting third-party tracking.

5. How We Share Information
We share personal information only as necessary:
  • With matched users. Limited profile details are shared so Clients and Counsel can evaluate and confirm bookings.
  • With Stripe. Stripe processes all payments and payouts; it acts as an independent controller of payment data.
  • With trusted service providers. Cloud hosting, email/SMS platforms, and customer-support vendors receive only the data needed to perform services under confidentiality agreements.
  • For legal or safety reasons. We may disclose data to comply with law, court orders, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
  • In a business transfer. User data may transfer as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale and will remain subject to this Privacy Policy.

6. Security Measures

Although no system is completely secure, we use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information. We will notify you of a data breach as required by law.

7. Your Rights & Choices
  • Access or download your data – email abe@abe.legal.
  • Correct inaccuracies – update your profile or notify us.
  • Delete your data / close your account – request deletion (subject to legal retention obligations).
  • Opt out of marketing – click “unsubscribe” in any email or adjust preferences.
  • We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
8. External Links & Social Media

The Site may link to third-party sites (LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.). Their privacy practices control data collected there; we are not responsible for external content or policies.

9. Attorney–Client Communications

Messages sent through Abe Legal’s encrypted portal are visible only to the participating Client and Counsel and a limited number of Abe Legal support staff for security and troubleshooting. We do not use these messages for advertising or to train public AI models.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version with a new “Last updated” date, and for material changes we will notify users by email or in-app alert. Continued use of the Site and Services after any update constitutes acceptance.
