Kira Fonteneau, a Detroit native, began her legal career in Birmingham at a regional employment defense law firm. Later, she helped to establish Birmingham's first Public Defenders Office. Attorney Fonteneau maintains an active practice focusing on employment law, civil litigation, and criminal defense. She is currently the President of the Alabama Affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, part of the Alabama Association for Justice, and is an active board member of the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation.
